Masaki Tenchi Tenchi is a light hearted, generally nice person. He lives a normal life until one day (OVA series) he opens a cave a lets out the demon Ryoko. His life then gets really crazy as many alien women come to live with him! Tenchi's mom passed away when he was a little boy, but later he gets to meet her by means of time travel (Tenchi Muyo in Love).

Ryoko Ryoko is the fun loving, sometimes mean spirited "demon" that Tenchi's grandfather was guarding over for years. She is madly in love with Tenchi, and constantly fights with Ayeka, who is also in love with Tenchi.

Ayeka Ayeka is a Jurian princess who is also in love with Tenchi. She came to earth to find her missing fiancee, Yosho, who has lived out his years on Earth. Since people age differently on Jurai then Earth, Yosho looks much too old to marry Ayeka now, so she goes to Tenchi. She has a litle sister named Sasami.

Mihoshi Mihoshi is an officer of the Galaxy Police. She is not very quick witted, and would be lost without her partner Kiyone.

Kiyone Kiyone is another officer of the Galaxy Police and Mihoshi's (unwilling) partner. She is extremely level headed and stays cool under stress.

Washu Washu is the brilliant scientist who created Ryoko (in the OVA). She is the self proclaimed greatest scientist in the universe.

Sasami Sasami is Ayeka's little sister and another princess of Jurai. She is the main character of Pretty Sammy, and she is as cute as a button! Also, she is the only one in the house that can cook.

Yosho Yosho was a Jurain prince who was supposed to marry Ayeka and become king of Jurai. Instead he fled Jurai with his true love (Tenchi Muyo in Love 2). He concealed the fact that he was Yosho from tenchi for many years, until Ryoko was freed from the cave.
